Video: How To Orchestrate Chat Without Topics In New Copilot Studio

The agent that we are going to be building together today is called the restaurant crew member agent. And the conversation that we’re going to orchestrate is ordering food at a fast food restaurant.

In the classic Copilot Studio experience you can do this using topics to join together a series of questions and answers in a structured format and the agent just follows it like a workflow. Well guess what, I don’t see topics in the new Copilots Studio experience, in fact they’re not here at all.

So we have to do this in a different way. We have to orchestrate the conversation using only the agents instructions and agent skills. And I think that that technique is not widely known.

That’s what we’re going to do together today and I can’t wait to show you how to do it

, I have a published Copilot Studio agent deployed to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot in our UAT environment.

When users attempt to upload a file, the upload is immediately rejected with the following message:

“This conversation has reached its 20-file upload limit.” The agent was initially working as expected. However, after 1–2 days, users started encountering the above error. nterestingly:

The agent works correctly in Test Preview
The issue only occurs after the agent is published and accessed through Teams or Microsoft 365 Copilot
The problem is reproducible for multiple users
