Video: Question Nodes Vs. Topic Input Variables In Copilot Studio

In this video we are going to take a look at question nodes and topic inputs variables. Both of them can be used to read a users message and pick out the important pieces, for instance, “I want to book a flight to Winnipeg on March 11.”

To answer this question we would extract the city “Winnipeg” and the date “March 11” and then check if there are any flights available using these criteria.

Now if question nodes and topic input variables achieve the same outcome, what are the differences and when would you want to use each one and why? That’s what we will be taking a look at today as well as some more advanced patterns for cleaning and validating user inputs.
